Our public schools system has not failed, it has changed and we have not changed with it. Our educational leadership has become polarized and politicized. We need a leader in legislative oversight to work with the State Superintendent of Schools. They must establish a common ground and prioritize the plaguing issues of old school buildings, eliminating the MEAP, establishing nationally accredited testing and creating a standardized curriculum for Michigan’s Public Schools. They must establish guidelines to hold our school administrators, teachers and students accountable for the task at hand, which is learning and becoming good citizens. Students completing their studies, demonstrating proficiency and achieving passing grades are what make students feel good about themselves and harbors opportunities for educational success.

“I am no longer able to support Charter Schools. For over eight years we have allowed this experiment to proceed and we are seeing no greater results than those observed in public schools. Our Public Schools deserve our full attention, if we abandon them, then we have failed our youth and our parents vision of our future”. The funds being granted to the Charter Systems are taking scarce, valuable economic resources needed to improve our Public Educational System. Charter Schools do not operate on the same playing field as our public school system and are allowed selectivity. If they wish to continue, then they should be privatized as other formerly operated governmental agencies have been. When we allow selectivity to occur, we create a pathway to “Separate but Equal”, and we know that is not possible and is also a violation of our Federal Constitution.

Albert cares about our youth, our community and you. He will work tirelessly to find alternatives that create success. Al is not telling you what a great guy he is. Al is not telling you how many committee’s he has served on. Al is not telling you how many awards he has received. Al is telling you what his vision is for our youth and is providing a PLAN to get their! Al believes in you!! Al believes in “People First”!!
